"Our long awaited sailing trip to Nantucket was just six days away, and our out of town friends were soon to arrive, when it happened: Our 30 foot Pearson coaster struck a rock coming out of Quissett Harbor, on the Buzzards Bay side of Wood Hole, damaging our boat and plans. Two holes in the keel had to be drained, dried and sealed. Thank God for Paul Nowak. He coordinated everything with Burr Brothers yacht yard and the Traveler's Insurance adjuster. "Paul was like my best friend"
"My wife and I were on the Connecticut River near the Hadley-Northampton line on a Sunday afternoon in my 27 foot Carver Montego when a storm came up. We knew we couldn't outrun it and it was pouring buckets. All of a sudden, there was the biggest explosion I'd ever heard. Lightning had struck my antenna, only a few feet from where I was sitting, knocking out my VHF radio, depth finder, refrigerator, and port side motor. The number 4 piston had a 1-inch hole in it and four of the through-the-hull fittings blew right out of the boat. we noticed 3 exit marks in the side of the boat - 2 on one side, one on the other. When we pulled the boat out of the water, we noticed five spider cracks in the bottom paint.
Paul Nowak and Brunelle's Marina were more worried about getting me back in the water than I was. The repairs we needed made it borderline for totaling, but that boat is worth far more to me than I paid for it. Paul went to bat for me to make sure they didn't total it.The boat needed a new motor, new fridge, new antenna, new depth finder, new VHF radio, and new through-the-hull fittings,not to mention the fiberglass work. But with Paul's help, I was back in the water a little over a month later.
Paul was like my best friend through this whole thing. He was easy to reach and if he couldn't answer my question, he'd call back within a day. And it wasn't like I was a long-time customer - I'd only paid one year's insurance. I can't say enough about Travelers and Paul. He was just awesome.
